Owen's Birthday + Shopping Local

Last week I shared with you the birthday fun & delicious cake we had for Owen's first birthday. So this week I wanted to share with you the sweet little gifts we gave him on the special day.

Ever since moving to Montreal and discovering pop up markets like Puces Pop and Marche Nënë, with a vast array of local vendors and goods, I've been inspired to shop small and local. Not to mention, there are SO many work at home moms (WAHMs) behind a lot of these creative businesses and I LOVE to be supporting them when I shop.

For Christmas we got Owen this beautiful wooden truck, hand crafted in Quebec by Le Trusquin.

So for Owen's birthday we looked for unique finds, some that he'll enjoy years from now (some maybe not as fun as toys, but he's one so he really won't remember this birthday plus, grandparents more than covered the toy department. haha).

We picked up Owen this adorable bandana bib and cute little Tshirt at a local maternity shop in Winnipeg (where I grew up) called Bump Maternity, these particular items are made by Crowns & Coroknits.

I also was thrilled to buy Owen this illustrated map of Quebec by my friend and talent artist, Sandy Dumais at Moon + Sparrow. No matter where he ends up in the world, Owen will always have this as a sweet reminder of the place where he was born.
